CNDH takes part in the 4th Global Forum on Responsible Business Conduct, 8-9 June 2016

The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) participated on Wednesday, June 9, 2016 in Paris, in a high-level roundtable for policymakers, held on the sidelines of the 4th Global Forum on Responsible Business Conduct (8-9 June 2016 ) sponsored by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The CNDH delivered a statement on behalf of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), in which the Council highlighted the role of NHRIs in promoting business and human rights. GANHRI stressed that NHRIs are working across the world to:

  • Advise governments on aligning national laws and regulations on business with human rights in particular though supporting the development of National Action Plans;
  • Provide expertise, independent advice to businesses on human rights issues and facilitate dialogue amongst stakeholders;
  • Facilitate mediation or conciliation, handle complaints about human rights and business issues, and conduct relevant inquiries;

The Council also took part in the annual meeting of national contact points, being member of the NCP-Morocco, to exchange on the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

The CNDH chairs GANHRI’s working group on business and human rights since October 2015.
