Ouherfou Reconciliation Caravan: Second Phase
As part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission on the promotion of women’s human rights and their role in the process of transitional justice, the Radoz Association in collaboration with the Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH) and the United Nations Development Fund for Women, organized the second phase, Agdez-Zagoura, of the Fadma Ouherfou reconciliation caravan from May 1-3 2009.The caravan, consisting of students from the Imilchil housing center for rural girls, women of Kser Sountat (birthplace of Fadma Ouherfou), girls from the Beni Zoul housing center, Zagora and local associations, visited Ouarzazte, Agdez and Zagora. Its program includes a visit to the tomb of Fadma Ouherfou and a visit to the Beni Zouli youth help center. This enabled youngsters of Kser Sountat and béni Zouli to exchange information. Also, the agenda included a meeting to exchange experiences on gender approach and community reparation.
The objective of this second phase that follows a first one (Errachidia-Rabat) was to sensitize local actors in Ouarzazate and Zagora about the plight of women during the period known in Morocco as the years of lead, to introduce the pilot projects in Imlichil: the preservation of the memory of Fatma Ouherfou; and Zagora: capacity building of women's rights associations.
