AZILAL: LAUNCHING A PROGRAM TO BUILD CAPACITIES FOR LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES TARGETED BY THE COMMUNITY REPARATION PROGRAM

Within the framework of the Community Reparation Program (Program), launched by the Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH), development associations, in partnership with the Deposit and Management Fund (CDG) and CCDH regional administrative Office in Beni Mellal, supported by Azilal Provincial Council, organized a ceremony to launch a program to “build capacities of local stakeholders in local communities targeted by the community reparation program in the Province of Azilal”, in the Communes of Taguleft, Anrki, Tiloukit and Zaouïat Ahensal , on October 20th, 2010 in the Province of Azilal.

This project is one of three projects selected in the Province of Azilal after a limited call for proposals (N° 2/2009). It was selected within the framework of the second phase of the Program projects.

To be realized in 24 months, this project includes many activities, to wit: practical and theoretical training sessions, participative organization techniques, administrative and financial management, participative projects, strategic planning, partnership and resource mobilization.

The community reparation program was launched in 2007. It is implemented within the framework of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission’s recommendations. It targets areas that were victims of past grave human rights violations. It aims to achieve reconciliation and restore trust and confidence in the State and its institutions.

The Program seeks to realize a number of projects to participate in the development of the targeted areas and preserve memory. It aims to entrench the spirit of collective reparation and achieve local governance through supporting and strengthening capacities of local stakeholders. The Program targets several provinces and communes: Al Hoceima, Azilal, Errachidia, Figuig, Hay Mohammadi-Ain-Sbaa (Casablanca), Khemisset, Khenifra, Nador, Ouarzazate, Tan Tan and Zagora.

Projects realized within the framework of the community reparation program revolve around four main axes: capacity building of local stakeholders, positive preservation of memory, improvement of standards of living (services, open-up, income generating activities and environmental protection) and the promotion of women and children’s situation.

The meeting, during which the capacity building program was launched, started at 10:00 a.m., at the Agriculture Chamber in Azilal.
