Mrs. Latifa Jbabdi
Born on January 26th, 1955 in Tiznit.
Mrs. Jbabdi, founding member of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH), headed the Union of Female Action (UAF) and was a chief editor of the Arabic-speaking newspaper “8 Mars” from 1983 to 1994.
She is also member of the National Observatory of the Rights of the Child (ONDE).
Mrs. Jbabdi was appointed in 1998 ambassador of the civil society to the UN Commission on Human Rights and coordinator for Morocco and the Arab world of the World March of Women.
Mrs. Jbabdi was also coordinator of the regional conference of African women’s NGOs in preparation of the Vienna Conference on Human Rights in 1993. As coordinator of the National Council for the Reform of the Personal Statute (Moudawana) in 1992, Mrs. Jbabdi took part in the creation and facilitation of several Moroccan platforms for the implementation of women's rights.
Mrs. Latifa Jbabdi, consultant in the field of development and women's rights, is currently preparing for a PhD in development sociology.
She was also a former member of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission (IER) and has been a CCDH member since 2002.
Mrs. Jbabdi is mother of two children.
