CELEBRATING NATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY: A SEMINAR IN AGADIR ON “WOMAN’S IMAGE IN THE MEDIA”

The regional administrative office of the Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH) in Agadir organized, in cooperation with the Coordination of Local Women Associations, the Regional Academy of Education and Training - Region of Souss-Massa-Drâa - and Agadir Communal Council, a seminar on “woman’s image in the media”. On the theme “all together for a media that protects woman’s dignity”, this seminar was held on October 16, 2010, at CCDH regional administrative Office in Agadir.

Organized to celebrate the National Women’s Day (celebrated each October 10), this seminar aims to make the public aware of the necessity to correct the negative aspect of woman’s image in the media.

Interventions on “socio-cultural challenges: stereotypes and change”, “woman and media between human rights and textual constraints” and “a glimpse on woman’s media experience” will be scheduled in this seminar.

A workshop to draw a collective painting by Youssef Ibn Tachfine High School’s plastic art department students is scheduled in the agenda of this seminar as well.

The associations of the Coordination will all participate in this seminar, organized as well in cooperation with Agadir Press Institute and local print and audio-visual media, namely: Admime Women’s Association, Association of Southern Women, Women’s Work Union, Women’s Voice, Nahda Association of Women working in the sector of education, Women’s Association of Development and Culture, Wafaa Women’s Association for Development, Association of Moroccan Active Women and Tafoukt Souss Association for Women’s Development.
